Week Two: Nourish
I’ve been doing the #BEinyourskin challenge for, at this point, half a decade….and I’ve learned so much about myself, about body image, about how similar so many of our experiences are. When I started doing research many years ago, I couldn’t find activities, or any materials really, talking about self image and growing your own self esteem that wasn’t tied with weight loss or diet culture. If we could all go for a walk everyday to make ourselves more confident……we all would, and so many people wouldn’t suffer with self image issues.
This year I wanted to have a week where we could be really “selfish”. People view selfishness as an issue but I see it as self preservation. We are born solo and we go out of this world solo, why wouldn’t I need to spend time cultivating a relationship with myself, with my body, with my spirit?!
This week is all about nourishing ourselves. Filling our space, our minds, our feeds with things, images and people who bring substances necessary for our growth, mentally and physically. What does that look like? For me, it’s cultivating habits that bring me balance, cultivating supportive friendships that I trust, cultivating food that is delicious, making sure I am actively present, a treat yourself spa day, a daily intentions journal, a partnership that brings me joy, music that elevates my mood, it’s about adding color into my life FOR me.
What does your life look like when you take time to nourish yourself?

2. What can I add to my life that would bring me more joy…big or small? How can I prioritize myself?
1. Who do you spend your time with?
Make a list of the 5 people you spend the most time with in your life. Examine how each relationship makes you feel? Do you feel loved and supported, or do you feel like you need to be someone other than yourself in that relationship?
2. How do you spend your free time?
What do you do with your free time? Do you spend it on social media? Do you spend it watching TV? Movies? Reading? Podcasts? Notice how you feel after, is this how you want to be feeling??
3. How to you spoil yourself?
If you can’t spoil yourself, who is going to?! Do you take long baths? Do you have tea every morning? How can you spoil yourself through a quarantine? What can you add to your daily practice that is all about you
4. How are you making others feel?
Are you nourishing others? Not in a codependent, I will give you all my energy way, but in a how do people feel when they’re around you? Are you bringing positivity into your life and others? How can you share your unique gifts + resources to create a better future?
