Welcome to my 1970’s inspired fashion lookbook! My goal in everything I create is to radically challenge and change who the storytellers and media makers consider worth celebrating. I’m tired of not seeing fat main characters, aren’t you? So, I’m creating them in this year’s Bikini Lookbook – a high end, fat fashion film. We’re telling the story of a woman who’s on the other side of striving. She’s wealthy, successful, artistic, and revolutionary. She’s bold, she’s authentic, she’s brilliant, she’s sought after, she’s the epitome of fashion – and she’s fat.
You know every bikini season (my favorite season!!) I search the internet high and low for some unique, plus size + curvy friendly swim options. Of course, I cant just show you, I have to make a fat girl fashion film! This is the perfect blend of everything I love – creative directing, fashion, fat visibility in media and performing. A tall order right?
I asked our B Word besties on Instagram (are you hanging out with me on IG?) if they could name the inspiration for this years bikini lookbook and so many of you are spot on!
1970’s Inspired Fashion Lookbook
I wanted to celebrate one of my favorite eras in music with a nod to Mama Cass Elliot from The Mama’s and The Papa’s! Not only was she a visibly plus celebrity, her legacy in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles is legendary!
Every year when we start creating this bikini lookbook, I want to make something that the viewer can see themselves in. I feel so passionately about creating the media I needed to see growing up that I self-produce it. My hope is that you know you are the main character, always. What I create will always, always prove it to you.
