My favorite time of year, swimsuit season!! Growing up chubby, who would have ever thought I would say that?! That’s why last year putting together my first bikini lookbook and actually putting on a bikini for the first time in my adult life was so important. From the reaction I got from blog followers, friends, family and how I felt after exposing myself in that way, I knew I had to continue and make it a yearly tradition.
This year we put together a behind the scenes, video lookbook for you all! I listen to what you guys want! I swear haha, I hope you all enjoy it (: Video was shot by Julia Haimowitz and edited by Danny Guerrero
This year putting together looks I was really inspired by Sophia Loren and the Amalfi Coast. I wanted to create a vintage summer look that paid tribute to my Italian heritage. One of the most beautiful woman I know is my grandma, she has always inspired me and spending time with her this summer is something I will always cherish. Love you Gams!
I grew up big, I was always bigger, it’s just what it was. I loved, LOVED swimming but became very self conscious and plus size bathing suit options were zero to none, big tshirts it was for young Brianna. I get so emotional now thinking back to those times because I would have never known that people would celebrate and pay to see me and my body in a bikini. The things that make you different are the things that will help you stand out and ultimately be successful. Like I said I was always bigger and taller than my friends, so I felt weird in my body for a long time but those are two of my favorite physical features about myself now. I will always stand out in a room because of my size and height, that’s something I have embraced and love now. It’s so hard to understand that when you’re young but it’s so true and that’s part of the beauty of aging. I’m so passionate about helping other women and young girls find that within themselves. Body confidence and self esteem is something I work towards everyday but it gets easier and the journey is so worth it. I always felt like maybe people were judging me by the pool but let me tell you, no one cares as much as you do. Please look at yourself in the mirror today and tell yourself you are enough, really say it out loud, it’s a powerful feeling! This is our time to embrace our bodies now and enjoy our summer. If enjoying your summer means putting on a bikini, get your life! If enjoying your summer means wearing a rash guard and shorts, get your life! The beauty is it’s up to you to decide, there is no wrong way to #BEinyourskin ++ Enjoy the lookbook!
