I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again..being around other confident plus size people really changed my life for the better. Since the beginning of #BEinyoruskin and with the popularity of Shrill, my followers have asked me to throw a plus size people pool party, a bikini bash! Coco from Coco’s Curvy Closet, one of my blogger besties and I, have had weekly standing pool dates this summer, making both our followings ask every week “Can we join?”! This is where we got the idea, we need to throw something. Not a sponsored event but something public for our followers, friends and internet friend to meet IRL. We partnered with The Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City, to make it happen. We brought in our DJ to give the right, “Hot Girl Summer” vibes and got the Pina coladas flowing.

The pool party was SUCH a success. Both Coco and I had no expectations because we both had never thrown a Bikini Bash for our followers before. It was truly incredible, having an amazing turn out with the hotel wanting to book another party date with us! I was truly having an amazing time, I took few to no photos so I’ll be sharing some photos I was tagged in from the event.

One of my worries planning this event was that the pool was still open to the general public. I was worried how the other thin pool goer’s would react to 50+ plus size people taking over. The reception was better than I could have ever thought, there was not an issue. As a plus size person by a pool, I have experienced the stares, the judgement, the recording and there was NONE of that, maybe because we were a large group in a very crowded pool. It was really great, with other patrons joining our party. For accessibility, the pool is on the ground floor. The accessibility of the venue is something we will keep in mind planning anymore events.
